Ia Fernanda Mantecón García

COmmunicationS dIrector

Ia is a student at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada where she is pursuing a major in Economics and a minor in Political Science. Anton and Ia became friends in their first year of university, where Ia quickly began helping out with translation and proofreading work on  La Liga en Cuba texts that were in Spanish. Soon after, she officially joined the team.

Growing up in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Ia witnessed firsthand the importance of community-building projects and grassroots organizations as a means to empower a community. This, in part, is what inspired her to study political science, and what draws her to La Liga en Cuba. Witness to Mexico’s long standing passion for soccer, and the example it sets of a sport’s ability to bring people together, Ia is excited and committed to advance La Liga en Cuba’s mission.
